Modern Architecture is often described as an experience of ‘movement through space’, as compared to experiencing ‘space from a static’ point. The composition is usually composed of very clean lines with lots of glass and a strong sense of the structure. The detailing is clean and the concept of ‘form follows function’ is embraced throughout the composition.
Custom Residence In Estancia:
This project features an open plan with angled, butt glazed windows that provide a view to the adjacent mountain peak. An angled, covered walkway provides access to the entry. A stepped fascia and layered roof structure provide a cover that matches the shape of the angled glass and composed of multiple layers with space between to provide clerestory windows to bring natural light deep into the home.
This project has been featured in several magazines and was the recipient of a Gold Nugget Award and a BALA Silver Award for design.
Custom Residence In Desert Mountain:
The open plan of this modern home features an arched, standing seam zinc roof over the great room, dining area and kitchen supported by an exposed, steel structure. The entry is off a central drive court and looks through a series of sliding glass doors dividing the great room from an outdoor covered patio and negative edge pool, to a spectacular distant view – a view shared by the master suite. An open stair surrounds a decorative block elevator shaft connecting the main level with the upper level guest rooms.

Custom Residence In Estancia:
This home was designed to provide a background to the owner’s modern art collection with the entrance centered on a series of steel arches oriented to focus on the adjacent, dominant rock formation. A multi level circular stair communicates the lower level garage with the main level living area, office and continuing up to the upper level master suite. An adjacent library features an overlook to the great room below. A guest house is linked to the main home with lattice arch elements.
This project has been featured in several magazines and was the recipient of the MAME Award.
Custom Residence In Desert Mountain:
This residence is noted for its unique stone work, free standing corner glass, and a designer pool with the negative edge falling towards the main house. The roof is composed of a ‘double stack’ element at the corner glass areas with a clerestory above providing additional, natural light to the interior of the home. A guest house is located a short walk from the media room and features a winding stair to a roof view deck with spectacular distant views.

Custom Residence In North Scottsdale:
The goal of this project was to design a guest house to complement the unique, geodesic main home. To accomplish this, a unique solution was required. A series of exposed, structural steel arches at different heights, and complemented by an arched, standing seam metal roof was the solution.

Custom Residence In Desert Mountain:
This home is located on a fairly steep lot and features several levels. The great room looks out to distant views through a series of stepped vertical stone elements and glass. The entry foyer features a glass wall to view a waterfall from the raised level pool that is part of a natural rock formation that presents several natural waterfalls at different levels and culminates in a small pool adjacent to the master bath. A two-bedroom guest house is located up several steps and captures magnificent distant views.

Custom Residence In Big Horn:
This residence is located in California on a fairly small golf course lot. It is distinguished from the other, adjacent homes because it features an entry courtyard with a unique pool and the home is set at an angle to the street to hide the garage doors and provide better views of the golf course. The home also has a media room adjacent to the great room that features a state-of-the-art sound system.
